I am proud to announce my work as a Photo Restoration Artist and Colourist. The documentary special The Three Kings of 1936 was produced by Woodcut Media. It premiered on Channel 5 on March 7th 2026.

This production marks the 90th anniversary of a turbulent year for the British monarchy. It explores the shocking death of George V in January. The story ends with the historic abdication of Edward VIII in December.
Bringing Historical Drama to Life with Accurate Colour
Edward VIII took the throne as a highly eligible bachelor. However he harboured a secret love for Wallis Simpson. His eventual abdication rocked the world and the monarchy. His brother George VI eventually succeeded him as king.
I brought rare archival images to life through detailed colouring and restoration. I worked closely with the production team at Woodcut Media. They provided expert guidance to ensure every historical detail was correct. This collaborative process allowed me to reproduce authentic tones for a modern 4K audience.
Rare Photographs and Expert Insights
The documentary gauges the impact of these events on the average Briton. It captures the gathering storm of war in Europe. The film also shows the growing unrest on the streets of Britain.
The Three Kings of 1936 features rare documents and previously unseen photographs. Interviews with historians bring the drama of the year to life. Notable contributors include Julie Montagu and David Suchet. Suchet reveals secret nightclub photographs taken by his grandfather James Jarché.
My restoration work brings these historical moments back to life. These images show how the events of 1936 gave Britain a wartime monarch.
